Over the course of this class, we will discuss many different books, short stories and poetry. However, we will be mainly focusing on short stories. We will learn the different parts of a story and become familiar with characters. Each quarter, students will be allowed to chose their own chapter book to read on their own (the book must be approved by me first). We will also learn about the different types of poems and read a few of them in class together. There will be an assignment regarding the poems that will be explained on the "Assignments" page. I hope that you put aside all preconceived notions you have about literature and poetry and come to class with an open mind of exploring new ideas and stories. I believe books and poetry can take us to a new world with unlimited possibilities, in which you can be a part of!
